BIOGRAFIA.

Marcin Owczarek nasce a Wroclaw nel 1985.
All’età di ventanni intraprende gli studi di fotografia presso The College of Photography a Wroclaw e, mosso da una passione costante, si diploma a pieni voti con un lavoro fotografico dal titolo: Brave New World, nel quale presenta una visione futuristica del mondo, in chiave totalmente idiosincratica.

Owczarek è assolutamente affascinato dall’influenza che le nuove tecnologie esercitano sulla vita umana, con particolare attenzione agli spazi urbani. Nell’indagare le questioni relative alla meccanizzazione e la standarizazzione della realtà, l’artista risveglia lo stile antiutopico, che si traduce nei suoi lavori attraverso la totale cattura dello spirito umano da parte del mondo delle macchine.

Le materie che alimentano questa ricerca sono lo shamanesimo, lo gnosticismo e l’alchimia, temi supportati anche dai suoi studi in antropologia. Inoltre, il Tibetan Book of the Dead, getta le basi ed influenza costantemente il progressivo evolversi del lavoro dell’artista.

BIOGRAM.

Marcin Owczarek was born in 1985 in Wroclaw. At the age of twenty, he began studying photography at The College of Photography in Wroclaw, graduating with an honorable mention for his cycle Brave New World, which presented an idiosyncratic version of a future world. Owczarek is fascinated with the influence of new technologies over human life, particulary within urban space.

Focusing on the issues of mechanization and standardization, he tackles them in an antiutopian style, depicting the total capture of the spirit by the machine world. Owczarek is interested in shamanism, gnosticism, alchemy. His art has also been influenced by the content of the Tibetan Book of the Dead, as well as his studies in cultural anthropology.
